Kyoto City Hall Front Plaza is a public square in central Kyoto where Oikedori and Teramachidori meet. It is used as a rest area for residents and hosts flea markets and gatherings, and it is also a spot for watching the Gion Matsuri and Jidai Matsuri processions. A temporary stage is set up in front of the Kyoto City Hall entrance for free performances, which run about 40 minutes. On summer afternoons the plaza has no shade, so you are in direct sun.
